Recovery isn’t Linear

This is my least favorite phrase. “Recovery isn’t linear”. But it’s the only thing you can count on in recovery — for there to be bumps in the road.

I recently was scared that I was relapsing into old habits. After immediately reaching out for help, my treatment team said "you’re not relapsing, you’re going through something”.

My dietician told me I already have the foundation to move forward. I’m not starting from scratch this time.

The idea of relapsing is terrifying. But I wanted to remind you that if you’re currently struggling with this, you are strong enough to pull yourself back up, get out of bed, and take care of yourself. Even if it feels impossible and you have no energy, you have the foundation and the tools to get better. One step at a time.
