My Parents

When I say treatment team, the first thing that people tend to think of is my therapist, occupational therapist, dietician, etc. But my parents have been a huge support and I feel so fortunate to have them.

I realize that not everyone can go to their parents for support, but if you are comfortable doing so, DO IT! I would not be able to do all the things I do today without their encouragement.

It took me a long time to find ways to communicate with them and explain how my brain functions, but their willingness to learn and do whatever they can have been life-changing. It started with writing letters and emails, then text messages, then hand signals… now they know my needs before I do at times.

So thank you for all you do for me. I’m so lucky to call you mom and dad.
