Ticks
Ticks have been AWFUL this summer. Here are some tips to deal with ticks.
After walks or being outside (especially in tall grasses) do a tick check on both you are your dog. Some common places ticks like on dogs are on ears, in between paw pads, and armpits. On humans, check places such as your ears, armpits, breasts, and crotch.
Don’t forget to give your dog their tick and flea medicine.
If a tick is attached, pinch your skin (or your dog’s skin) as close to where the tick’s head is as possible. This will cut off blood flow and within 10 seconds, the tick will naturally let go. You don’t want to pull or pick a tick off because that can potentially rip their head off and that’s not good.
Do not crush ticks as this can expose you to more diseases. Kill ticks by putting them in a tightly sealed bag, putting in alcohol, or wrapping in tape. You can also flush it down the toilet.
