Impact V.S. Intent

I think sometimes we get impact and intent confused.

Intent is the hope of something coming across a certain way. Whereas impact is how it actually comes across.

For example, someone’s intent is to be helpful and push someone who’s in a wheelchair without asking. But the impact could be making the wheelchair user feel like they were incapable of moving on their own.

No matter your intent, if the impact negatively affects someone, it is important to take accountability.

It’s very easy to brush something off because you had good intentions. But, it’s time to reflect on how your actions could affect others.

It’s also important to start holding others accountable. If someone’s actions hurt you, despite them having good intentions, you should speak up. Otherwise, the impact will stay the same and change won’t occur.
