Different People have Different Needs
What works for you might not work for them. You may be someone who likes to talk things through, your partner might like space. You might like to run. Your friend might like to take a nap.
What works for you might not work for others.
It’s really easy to assume that you know what people in your life need. And it’s really hard to step back and not push your agenda onto someone else you see struggling. I know I’ve been struggling with that recently.
I find that taking a step back and asking “how can I help?”, reflecting on their circumstances, and trusting their responses are helpful.
It’s okay to not know how to help. It’s okay to take a step back if it’s weighing on you.
Everyone is different. Everyone copes differently. That’s normal. And it’s lovely to offer things that have worked for you but you must remember, it worked for YOU and may not work for others.
